Last week when I saw Dr. Taeff for a follow up she did a CA125 blood test. My results came back elevated, which according to the internet can mean a variety of things, but according to Dr. Taeff possibly indicates endometriosis: a condition of the uterine lining which might be complicating attempts at implantation. So she recommended six weeks of yet another different combination of hormones and retesting on May 7 to see if things look better.
I consulted with Dr. Machac in Brno who agreed with Dr. Taeff's plan. And we agreed that this wouldn't work with the May 17 frozen embryo transfer we had previously scheduled - because we wouldn't be able to start the hormone protocol for that until this is over.
So no we are looking at early June instead for my return trip to Brno. I'm impatient to try again and it'll be a little more expensive to go then because its summer season, but obviously if we can do something to increase the changes of implantation - its a good plan to wait two more weeks.
Side note: if anyone is counting, I just realized that I've posted considerably more so far in 2013 than 2011 and 2012 combined. I know I was remiss at blogging in recent years, but I'm making up for it now!

Its so good to have something you can do to help the progress along. I guess this means you will be one month pg at the family vacation in NY.

We certainly appreciate the more-frequent blog posts! And hopefully soon you'll have lots more fun news to be posting about. I'm glad there is something you can do to make the next round more likely to succeed, even if it has no effect you'll feel better knowing you tried it. Maybe your conception date will be Michael's b-day Jun 2!
ReplyDeleteactually from Margaret this time!
I wonder if there's a way to put all this international negotiation on your CV...
