This morning I had a basal cell carcinoma removed from my forehead. Fortunately they got all the troublesome cells on the first slice so it didn't take very long.
After 24 hours I can switch to a normal band-aid - which is good because the bandage they put on today makes it look like I had "real" surgery. When I got home Miran wanted to wrap a gauze around my head before the photo.
I'm feeling very vain and not planning to leave the house for a few days. I know this is no big deal (and Mom and Dad seem to have these cut off right and left) - but I've only had stitches once before and I'm quite worried I'm going to have an ugly scar on my face because the ones on my belly are pretty big.
And I can't resist getting gory and sharing a photo of the stitches themselves:

Yikes! I'm glad they got all the cancer on the first try. I don't think facial skin scars as much as skin elsewhere. If you're not a fan of gory cuts and stiches hopefully you won't ever need a c-section!!
ReplyDeleteLuckily any scar will be covered up by your hair. How did they even notice the atypical cells through your hair in the first place?! I'm glad they got all the suspicious ones.

Glad they noticed it and were able to get everything! Try putting vitamin E (just use a needle to poke a hole in a liquid gel) and cocoa butter on the scar, that is really helping my foot scar disappear!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, Lindsay!
