I forgot to mention we also got a large and lovely new ficus tree for inside our house when Mommy and Dad passed through town last week-end. A friend had given this tree to them because it didn't fit in their house, and now they have decided it is too big for them. Miran of course was delighted to take such a big tree. Notice also the IKEA bookcase I bought years ago now painted black to fit in with our new scheme. In the middle is a matching cabinent that my friend Jen dropped off over New Years. We had bough the matching set when we were roommates in New York City. There is another bookcase from Jen wrapped in a rug on the floor in the right, which I need to put together and paint to match the others. It will go between the bookcase and cabinet. So the tree balances that end of the room nicely.
On the wall to the left in this picture you'll see the pile of boxes of books that need to get unpacked and put on those bookcases when they are ready as well as all the rest of our plants and trees which are hanging out together in this sunny room until the spring! You may notice I didn't finish painting this corner of the room because all the books were in the way, but I did paint most of the room so that I could set up the bookcases and wouldn't have to move them later to paint.

New Tree !
This morning we woke up to the sound of construction and looked out the window see our replacement tree finally being planted in the front yard. You may remember that the day we closed on the house the city removed one of our large fabulous trees, and they have now given us a new, slightly smaller Willow Oak in its place. It doesn't compare to the 100 year old one, but is actually a pretty decent size.

Snow!
Its no snopocalypse or snowmeggedon like Cecilia and Harald and Mom and Dad have, but we got something in this latest storm. When I was driving home from work last night it had just started a light flurry and it was pretty steady until we went to bed a little after middnight. Here are some photos from this morning of our house and of the trees of Progress Lane with the 2 plus inches of snow we got last night. We watched the opening cermony of the olympics last night and felt festive with the snow.
And here is one of Miran and I from the seven smaller snowfall we got two weeks ago.
They are forcasting more snow for Monday but I'm not sure if we'll have any accumulation. As I'm sure you've noticed, I haven't posted since Thanksgiving - and we were in t-shirts and our friend was in shorts. Its a little colder now!

Happy Thanksgiving (and Bajram) !
For Thanksgiving we went over to a pot-luck party at a friend's house and had a really nice and festive day. We played bean bag toss and two-hand-touch football and ate a ton!

The unfun side of Fall!
Well our fabulous trees have meant lots of leaves on the ground lately! Miran has spent the past few week-ends trying to clean them up. We had almost ten big bags of leaves for pick up last week and will have a few more this week. Here is Miran with his leaf blower / vaccum - first he blows them in a pile, than sucks them all up into a bag. I think he will also mow the lawn today for the last time this year - I know he is excited about that!
